At Bokey Services, tree health starts with getting the right treatment where the tree can actually use it. We use two injection methods depending on the situation. With Arborjet trunk injection, material is introduced directly into the tree’s vascular system through the trunk, allowing the tree to move it internally. With direct root injection, we use a soil probe to place treatment below the surface in the active root zone, where feeder roots can absorb it and move it up. Both approaches give us targeted options for certain insect issues, disease pressure, and nutrient deficiencies.
Direct trunk injection
Tree injections offer a precise way to support tree health by delivering treatments directly into a tree’s vascular system. Instead of broadly treating the surrounding landscape, this method introduces the material through small ports near the base of the trunk, reaching the xylem, the sapwood that carries water and nutrients. From there, the tree translocates the treatment internally throughout its canopy and growing tissues. This targeted approach is commonly used for certain damaging insects, tree diseases, and nutrient deficiencies, while helping to minimize unnecessary exposure to the surrounding soil and non-target areas.
Direct Root Injections
We use direct root injection to place treatments precisely where a tree can use them, within the active root zone. Using a specialized soil probe, we deliver nutrients or other labeled tree health materials below the surface, targeting the absorbing roots. When appropriate, we can also auger and place dry fertilizers throughout the root area. Every tree is different, so we adjust placement around the canopy and drip line to match its needs. The result is precise, effective placement without broadcasting products across the whole landscape.
